what leds did you use sir. and were they direct plugins or a rewire. because i would so be down to do that. not sure what the deal is with the havic controls but i could care less if those were lit or not.

Maybe the CC isn''t working because you need to add oil. :slap:

I wonder if this mod is pretty simple and would work on a gen1. Im hoping you found some plug and play LEDS and didnt have to do a full rewire. in the picture the gage lights look super bright. not sure i like that. i imagine its even brighter then the picture presents.

It might just be direct plug and play. I know it would only be possible to go from green to blue. I checked this before. The parts have a blue filter on them so when a yellow halogen light hits the blue filter it turns into green light. Now you could do some real modding and changed the blue filter to clear and have white lights... some where down the road. But he may have done some soldering for the steering wheel lights because I don't remember them having bulbs. Also, the window and unlock buttons would need new leds.

I just bought the right size bulbs from superbrightleds.com the gauges are bright but not as bright as the pic

That looks seriously cool. I need to do that to mine. I've already converted all the other interior lights to blue LED's so I need to do the instruments next. How hard is it to take out the cluster and change the bulbs? What size bulbs to you need. And did you change the cruise control button LED's too? That's neat. I really like it.

U just have to be careful with the dash I only did this cause I had everything apart already to paint

Can you provide a link to the bulbs you used. and how many did it take to do just the gage cluster. and how many did you end up using for the rest of the stuff as well

did you have any of these kind of bulbs in your dash or were they all the same as what was in the instrument panel.

I started my dash light conversion today and was extremely upset to find that bulb in 2 locations. the first to my left where the head light switch and dimmer switches are. second under the buttons on the top of the dash. out of fear that the message center used the same bulb i did not pull that while i was swapping out the leds in the instrutment panel.

I must say im very pleased with the results. its not spotchy as a lot of people said happened to them. heres a couple pics from my gen 1.

i tried to get the entire back side to show there is actually 9 bulbs required for the cluster of a gen1. not sure how many in the gen 2 like the OP has

The cell phone really does no justice for the way its light up even when you use video. speaking of which here is a video as well. I really love the way the turn signals look all blue as well dont remember if i recorded that or not.

Im also going to do the door buttons and the steering wheel buttons once i figure out for sure what bulbs those and how to get to them. so any additional info would be very much welcomed. Thanks.

The message center can't be changed color. Its a digital board like an alarm clocks screen, you could probably place a filter piece over the screen

I like the blue,

Wish y'all would drop some links to these bulbs

Trippin, I'd think you could just rewire in an LED for the lights switches and remove the old halogen bulb and use its housing

these are the blues that i used.

these are the whites i used from my other video. however i would suggest finding a different sell as this one only sent me 1 out 10. they are offering to either give me full refund or send the 9 out. however its still a PIA to have to deal with.

I wonder where i get this blue lense from then. in regards to rewiring th led the hole for the bulb that it fits into is way to small for the leds that i have. id have to break that crap off the back peice. if your not sure what im talking about go head and pull it next time ya get in your car for a drive. im sure ya know it just pops right off. there is always the finger nail polish trick but then it would be as bright.

I took the EATC out the other day to see if I could put some LED's in it. I had a set of blue T5 SMD bulbs that I thought would fit. Unfortunately, they were not the right bulbs. The HVAC unit uses small twist-in type bulb like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-T3-T4-...es&hash=item2c6bd9ae8d&vxp=mtr#ht_2314wt_1145

It looks like the T5 90mm one with the flathead screwdriver slot in it. Right now only two of the bulbs on my EATC are functioning. It's irritating especially at night. So I'm going to order these and see if they work. I don't know for sure, but I'll bet the heated seat controls use the same bulbs. I haven't looked at them yet. Anybody know for sure?

Ill let you know if they fit or not. I have 1 left from the pair i received and plan on testing it out. I have a thread called identify this bulb where im trying to convert all the bulbs to leds and are tracking the progress and the bulb types there. if the one i have fits i will only need 4 more to finish the conversion on the hvac controls.
