D1R or D2R? (HID)

Are there any that will? or how about a whole new conversion kit? The kits are about $350 new! both lights and ballasts.

I know it's been said time and time again, and Ill prolly be dragged through the coals once more, but

D2 technology adapters are on the way. With the bull:q:q:q:q Ford is pulling, it's becomming more needed by the day. They are comming tho.

For those of you desperate enough. I have d2s HIDs in both of my gen 1's, kinda ghetto tho. The bulbs are siliconed into place. never had a problem with them tho.

You got 2 choices. You can fab them yourself like 94 did.

You can buy the current adapters for $300 like I did.

You can buy new OEM bulbs.

As of right now, those are your only choices.

How do you "fab" D2 lights into our system?

Ask 94m5, if he prefers to reveal his info. It's really something that is up to the user though. I have seen 4 homefabbed setups, and all four of them were different.

What are the D1 and D2 bulbs? At $100 they are far cheaper than the Ford bulbs if they would work. Has anybody jumped the ballasts and installed stock gen1 bulbs in the gen2's, or used the Mark 7 bulbs in the gen1 or gen2's. I know that car is a one bulb system but if it would work electrically then an adaptor could be made to work. All my 7's light up like daylight. It doesn't matter how ghetto it looks when it's a work in progress. The writing is on the wall from Ford, those idiots won't be making the bulbs for their stupid flawed design much longer. Whichever aftermarket company makes a replacement bulb will charge too much also, even at half the price it's highway robbery.
Dave.

What are the D1 and D2 bulbs?

A newer HID design that is cost-effective, brighter, efficient, and common. The HID-9500 in the Mark series is pretty much the ancestor of today's setups. It was the first design and went through a lot of BS in order to achieve DOT approval. That bulb is specific to the Mark VIII and I know of no other vehicle HID assembly that uses them.

Yes- switch the harnesses and they will fit.

used the Mark 7 bulbs in the gen1 or gen2's

No- the bulbs are different.

On a related note- the Mark VII's were a first as well. They were the first flush-mounted headlamp system. They had some DOT red tape BS to go through on the Mark VII as well. Pretty interesting, eh?

Yep.
