Hey all. I got the dreaded CEL the other day. I was cleaning the yard, and had the car running with doors open as to have music outside. I get in the car 30 minutes later, and the temp guage is spiked
I figured the overheat was fixed 2 weeks ago when i changed the t-stat. Guess not... Brought her in, and they diagnosed a Cylinder head temp sensor failure. One was reading 70degrees cooler than the other is whatr they told me. Anyone else heard of this issue? They are going to charge 350 to fix  I tried a quick search, but didn't see anything. Is this a fair price to fix?

Hi
That sensor is a XW4Z-6G004-AA and has a list of 19.68 and an LVC cost of $14.76 each. Looking at the attached pic it may be under the intake hence the big labor estimate.

Dude, just do it yourself and save the $335. I've dug that far into it before, and I've got no formal training, just the times I helped my dad (over 10,000 miles since I changed the VC gaskets/plugs/coils). Just use the instruction for VC gasket replacement and PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!

Looking at that pic, I'd feel comfortable going in after that.

I called the salesman i bought the car from. At the time of sale, he had talked me into an aftermarket warranty, which the service dept. told me didn't cover this. He called me back, and told me they would take care of it. I just have to pay the $50 deductible :D Gotta love customer oriented salespeople

If that would'nt have happened, i would've fixed it myself.
