Cylinder 3 & 4

Howdy folks... I scanned my 97' mark and it says that the 3rd and 4th cylinder are misfiring... I know it goes 1234 down one side and 5678 up the other... but what side is what and where's it begin... I thought I knew but I changed out the COP's and it still runs like poo... don't know if it's still misfiring haven't cleared the codes and scanned again... but I did have a vacumm leak I fixed too... just a throttle body gasket... would that have done anything funny to a sensor?... it runs fine just idles a little rough... which makes me think it's another cylinder... thanks for all the help

I thought that 1,2,3,4 go down the passenger side from front of engine to back.

5,6,7,8, are on the drivers side from front to back of engine.

that could be... I changed the front two cause those where the worse off looking... and they were right next to eachother... but the coils could have been fine... the spring inside the boot was all messed up so I figured those were the ones... maybe it's the back to... I think I might swap out those coils and put the old ones back there with the nicer boots...

I was right So 3 and 4 are in the back, passenger side.

You know how easy it'd be to have a smooth running engine with a program like on the 300 C's.. the program that cuts 4 cylinders off when the engine's at cruise speed for an amount of time and not under load. ?.

I wondered about this one day, but was too lazy to look up and see if the firing order would be friendly.

I've replaced my number 4, twice in six months time since I've owned the car, don't know what's causing the problem, all I can figure is that they're cheap coils. I should know better than to buy them from autozone, but at the time, they were the only store that had them in stock in the area. I have more options now that I live in the city. I love my car, but it's damn hard to find parts in the rural areas.
