I have a custom grill that came off a gen 1. It was "gold"...almost like the "Gold" package you see on certain models/dealer add-ons.
it came off cecil's 96 Diamond Anniv. model. when he bought the car, the grill was on there.
it looked like someone had it "painted" gold, and didnt do very decent prep work.
He replaced it with a new, stock grill, and asked if i was interested in his old custom grill. I thought "sure, I'll paint it black".
when the grill showed up, I stripped it, sanded it, prepped it, and painted it.
The paint job went very well. But the next day when i went to apply another coat, I wiped it down with a rag that had some residue on it(I guess) and it wrinkled the paint.
Now I have to start all over, and stripping the thick paint the last person applied was work enough, thank you.
I held the grill up to another Black gen 1, and decided I didnt like it black anyway...not on my car.
so instead of trying to figure out what to do with it, I give up. I would rather custom paint my stock grill, then mess around with this one anymore.
so...it's FOR SALE. It is a heavy-duty grill. Not plastic. I think it's actually metal, not even aluminum. it is heavy(for its size), and will easily take a "blow" on the freeway without breaking!
here are a couple pics of the grill on cecil's car, so you get an idea of the design. it uses horizontal bars, instead of verticle.
it came with a Lincoln emblem(with gold surround) which was glued on. I took it off, and will include both a gold emblem, and a stock, chrome emblem.
