I think there's more to that story then what we see in the vid. 
Cats don't just fall apart at idle unless you break them first. And anyone who has ever gutted one knows they aren't flimsy by any means.

You can tell that wasn't the first start up, there is residue just behind the exhaust where it looks like they did this already.
I don't think I would let my car run as long as he did if this was happening to mine.

I had a volvo that had stuffed up cats, so i drove near redline for a little bit, trying to blow the cats out, little glowing embers would should out the back, then it burst into flames....
