Cruise Control

Hey, I was planning on taking a long trip tomorrow and would rather not have my LSC end up in flames, do you guys know how to simply turn off the cruise control? I'm not certain if the previous owner did anything about the recall, Thanks.

Looked my car up and its due for the 05528- Speed control system modification Gulp.

mine works fine, I have went on huge trips with my car. First week in June I put on 2200 miles and used the cruse much of that. Kept it on cruse climbing the mountain nort of chattanoga (SP) on SR 24 all the way up to Mount Eagle. Instant ecomomy was 14-15 miles per gallon. and it was on cruse going down the hill to I was getting 40+ miles a gallon for the next 10-15 miles.

What causes them to fail?

It doesn't matter if you use it or not, as long as the battery is hooked up there is power to the circuit and a fire hazzard!
Get the recall done...

Just to emphasize what was said, using the cruise control doesn't make you any more or less likely to experience a fire, so don't invest any extra worry.
