How would I disassemble the steering wheel to get to the switch contacts for the cruise control. The cruise control went out some time ago and I tend to believe it may be the contacts are dirty. At least thats what I'm hoping. Is there a website or a link that could help guide me. Thanks

When you mean "went down", does that mean it does not work at all?

There is a good chance the system is not even powering up. Might be something as simple as a fuse.

However, if you want to disassemble the steering wheel, it's pretty easy but involves removing the air bag. There are 2 VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY procedures you need to do with air bag removal!

Disconnect the battery ground and wait at least 20 minutes before air bag removal.

Remove the 4 retaining nuts for the air bag. They can be found on the BACK SIDE of the steering wheel.

Disconnect the 2 electrical connections, one is the clock spring (be gentle) and one is the electrical connector.

Remove the air bag from the steering wheel.

VERY IMPORTANT, PLACE THE AIR BAG MODULE ON A BENCH WITH THE TRIM COVER (FRONT) FACING UP!!!!!

Remove the horn buttons by gently prying with a small screw driver. Disconnect horn wiring harness connector.

Remove the phillips head screws from speed control switch assemblies.

Disconnect speed control switches from the wiring harness and remove the switches.

When your reassemble everything, make sure the wiring is positioned so as NOT to interfere with anything!

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
