I've been putting off replacing a windshield for almost two years now but comin back from dallas got stuck behind a rock truck going through construction on I-20 gave me 4 more brand new cracks  now everyday i get in i'm scared its gonna cave in & this is a first for me so how much have you guys paid to have your windshield replaced before?

Insurance covers the front glass in Florida without deductible so I didn't pay directly when I had mine done. I would guess around $200-300 install and all. The guys who did it here drove to my workplace and replaced it.

I think I paid $150 for mine last time. It's Pelkington which I'm not sure if that's the one's that came in the car or not. There's a few different kinds depending on what options you have. Seeing as you own a Gen. I there may be only 1 or 2 (rain sensing and non rain sensing). Our windshield guy said there were 4 different kinds for my car when he checked.Depending on your insurance, it may be cheaper to pay your deductible if it's covered under your comprehensive. Just me flapping my gums but there's a few different routes you can take depending on where your at and what your coverage is.

I just had mine replaced last week. It was 100% covered by my insurance, but I think the invoice was around $330 ish.

Mine was just written up last week if you saw my tree limb post. The windshield was billed out to 380 dollars.

I've paid around the same amount as Jmtiseo for a pinkerton? Or w.e that brand is lol sounds similar

#### i'm hoping mine isn't going to be that much i want it around $150 but wanna get it tinted too since i'm already replacing it i'm thinking 20% since my windows and rear are 5% already

I paid $180 ($193 with tax). My car has rain sensing wipers which does cost more. Let them know what you have when getting quotes. I think it was $160ish for a standard windshield.

It's Pilkington, and that's the brand I'd go with if your shop has it. Ask them if they can do a factory tint, some windshields have it.

Incidentally, Pilkington can provide a windshield for anything provided you have the money. My last car, a Buick Reatta required a windshield. My insurance covered it for my 200 dollar deductible. Because the Reatta is not a common car (only 20,000 TOTAL built over 4 years, including both coupes and convertibles) they actually had to pour the glass to get me a windshield. It cost 2200 dollars and took a month for the shop to get it in.

A good amount of glass joints up here (And from what i've read everywhere) use XYG glass (Has a couple diff names) as a option. It's cheap china glass that is known to have waves and other issues. Mine ended up being fine but I got lucky.

Since you want CHEAP don't be surprised if thats what they give you. I thought by spending a little more I would've avoided this issue but got stuck with it anyhow. I would've denied the replacement but I forgot to check before it was installed. :(

Just a heads up.

You guys are getting prices of 150 dollars is that just for the windshield? Mine price was R and R and the windshield. I cannot believe 150 installed. Mine has the top tint also.

That 20 on the windshield is gonna be about 14-16 after tinting (assuming the new glass is factory solar tinted).

Pardon me. $190 installed w/ rain sensor. They came to our house on a Saturday to do it as well. Not sure if we got a deal or not, it's the only place we go for windshields so maybe we did.

Tinting is another animal. 20% on the windshield would look great but with 40% on mine those corners get mighty hard to see on dimly lit streets at night. Considering the amount of day time driving and the fact I don't drive in dimly lit areas often it's worth it. I believe Pilkington is what came on the car so that's what I would go for.

Good luck.

Thanks i'm going to call a few places we have here in the morning and see what they tell me & as for the tint i hear most of the places here suck for that & i really don't feel like going all the way to Dallas to get it done

Yeh that's a bit of a drive just for tint. Some places might not tint that low. If and when you get it done post up some pics.

Lol, that's the same exact way I felt when I had my 2 18" Jl w6's in mine. It was nice while it lasted but I hated having a huge box just plopped back there.. :slap:
