I just recently installed a decently rebuilt tranny with a custom built PTC 3000 stall tq converter and a massive tranny cooler. '94 mark

1. Where is the best place to mount the cooling system control module that is in front of the AC condenser? (Right now its partially blocking the tranny cooler.)

2. What would cause the tranny to drag occasionally when flooring it and it downshifts from 2nd to 1st? (It only drags in first gear when it downshifts. Deadstop and on its fine. Also the tranny temp is normal.)

the cooling system control module

that little box is more than the cooling system control module.
it does have the high/low speed fan relay in it..but it also has the hi/low speed fuel pump relay.. AND it has something to do with the injectors firing.

It's called a VLCM or VCRM (variable load control or relay module)

you should be able to move it.. anyplace the wire length will allow.
But be forewarned, it needs to have some airflow on it as well or you will lose one of the many functions it provides.

when one of these dies.. it's a PITA to trouble shoot.
usually when I get a a problem with one of the systems it controls.. I just replace the module BEFORE I troubleshoot any further.

that thing has caused...
my fuel pump to not work
Tiffany's injectors to not work..
and both our cars had a "bad cooling fan symptom" from one of those failing.
