Drove a friend somewhere, sat in the parking lot and listened to music for about 20-30 minutes, dickin with the sunroof a couple times..rolled down my window and asked a dude for a smoke. Tried to start my car a minute or two after and it wouldnt crank but i still had a bit of power the radio was still on..

So im like SOB, and the guy who lent me a smoke had cables so we did it up in the back. Couldnt get the damn thing to turn over, had a good connection, let it sit for a while charging..Seemed like when id put the key back in to retry, my steering wheel goes into position and all the electronic things raped the charge im guessing.

That thing wouldnt even attempt to turn over and i messed with re-engaging parking brake yadda yadda....

Called my brother for more help, standing there, remembered i had remote start...Guess what just worked? The remote start made the car finally start! Obviously it had a charge in the battery, but maybe ignition sourced or somethin...

Drove it home and now she seems to start normal. I was like, tango down, at first but now im happy! This car has been running great. I've put 430ish miles on her since I got it last week.

Did you notice what the PATS light was doing when it wouldn't turn over? I'd bet it was flashing rapidly. This would indicate that it was a PATS issue, and not a low battery issue.

i think you may be right, at least in the sense that the battery was not the source. explain your fancy acronym, PATS...

Yea i skimmed a few articles people claim the security system is holding them from starting? idk it has not done anything screwy since, im just gonna play it safe and not chill in the car with the radio on unless i just got done driving a bit.

PATS = Passive Anti Theft System

It's the system (in the cluster) that reads the electronic chip in your key. If it can't correctly read the key or if it can't correctly communicate with the PCM, then it won't allow the starter to run.

so if it does that again i guess turn the key all the way and let it sit for 30 sec, then take it out and try to start it again.

thank you sir, and i must still say i love this car quite a lot.

If it does it again, leave the key turned to run while the light flashes rapidly. After a while, the light will stop the rapid flash and go to flashing out a two digit code. Post that code here and we can help you with what you need to do to fix it.
