Well this just happened randomly the other day...

Looks like the drivers side may have jumped off the track but I can't tell

When go to open it it looks like the passenger side would clear but its getting hung up on the driver side...

Then when you go to close/vent the passenger side will seal but the drivers goes to vent???

Here are some pics... It may make more sense this way

mine did the exact same thing, now its in 'vent' the whole time.......

no idea what happened, its not the motor out of time, i tried timing once and it worked but that was it, problem returned and while messing with it again i broke a bit off of the drivers side plastic guide, so just left it alone.

im guessing its something else with the cables or something, but im not dropping the whole thing.........

if you drop the motor u can move it around and close it.

the frame has a serpentine cable that is pulled or pushed by a gear that is above the passenger seat, mine stripped out and I had to change it. not a brutal job, must of hit a snag in the retrival, you try unhooking your motor, getting the high side to the top of vent (you can move it pretty easy with the motor out) then pushing sharply the low side. If that works push the window down, line up the dots on the gear (you will see them) Run the motor off the car, you will feel when it hits the closed and reinstall, If you need more help like I said I had to change out my whole frame so I know alittle about them

Wow... It seems like a pretty simple problem that I will need to tear into...

Will I have to tear the whole headliner out or is there a access panel or something?

I might have to use your expertise :)

if its a factory roof there will be a panel above the back seat. jeff sounds like hes talking about a aftermarket roof

Looks just like mine, duhhhh I said passenger seat, not back seat. The motor is really easy to pull, Access panel above back seat, 2 screws and that is it.

Pull you motor is step one then the lining up

So I gotta drop the head liner to get at the access panel? I'll have to go and look...

Hey Froggy

You feeling ok???

You gave Stack a straight answer, no funny remarks or nuttin!!

Max

HA... thanks man.

Its got the access panel! It amazes me how oblivious I have been not to notice it... :)

I don't have time this week so it will have to be Sunday... I'll update then

Well I got some time today and I pulled the panel and the motor...

Tried to move the roof and the passenger side isn't moving unless I yank on it unlike the drivers side which is moving freely. I'm thinking something is sticking on the passenger side frame? Help me out here Jeff!

Moved the roof by hand to vent, put the motor in vent out of the assembly. Put it all back together and its still hanging up somewhere.

Moved the roof as close to fully closed as I could get it... Same thing with the motor... reassembled. Same problem...

Where is it hanging up? Whats the issue? At least I kind of got it closed :)

Driller did a nice write up on this a while back with step by step pictures. It was for replacing the rubber glass surround but I think he removed the whole track. Check his posts & you should come across it.

There seems to be some problem with the cable on the passenger side, Did you crank it all the way back? with out the motor. You never know what could be causeing that side from binding up. Both cables run on either side of that screw gear. the passengers is not sinked with the drivers it is behind of were it should be, Like I had said I think your only option with out pulling the frame is to Open roof to vent (like top picture) have motor off, push or yank the passengers side up to match, hopefully the cable on that side will pull past the gear, and get closer to were it should be.

Like I had said both cables on both sides run from the glass back and meet on that screw gear above the motor. something got in there and casued that side to get out of sink, If you can get the roof in full vent, You can get some lubracant on the cables that will help.

Mine was semi stripped, I had to help my glass and it seemed the limits were off cause when it got to the end would still be rat tat ing. I just pulled my frame, took my glass off, got a new frame from a Tbird. put my glass on it, slipped it in lubed it and works like new now.

any help I can be let me know

remove the glass, four bolts on the sides, press your head angst the glass and look...there they are! pull the glass and then you can inspect the track assy ive seen some where the "hinges" pop you of the track, just compare the two sides and the prob will be obvious

mine did the same thing 3weeks ago. just out of the blue it stopped working. im thinking of buying the whole sunroof with motor.
