I've done lots of searching on here and believe the COP's are bad on my 00' LS V8 -- just making sure I am not overlooking something before I spend $180

My car started 'missing' only at higher speed (more rev's) a couple weeks ago or so.. now, it has gotten progressively worse where getting on tje throttle hard does nothing but make it spudder and surge.

At idle it will 'studder' on occasion, and also if I try and cruise in 5th gear (auto).. it will 'studder'.

I know, I know... everything points to COP's... but then I read about vacuum leaks or bad PCV's causing same symptoms????

HELP!

Try checking all the vacuum lines first. The PCV valve may be an issue, but it sounds like some bad COPs to me.

Didn't V8's had a PCV valve, that issue is on the V6's.

When was the last time you changed your COP's and spark plugs? Don't remember, then its time to change them and see what happens. Worse that could happen is you check it off the list of things to do.

The dealer changed them under warranty once, I have no idea how many miles that was... bought the car in 2003 and found it still had 2 years warranty or up to 75,000 miles. The time ran out before mileage.

104,xxx on the clock now, so its been at least 50,000 since the COP's were done.

Looks like I will order them from eBay (Visteons) early next week.
