Cooling trouble

just to add to whats going on here. (im having the same problem) been burped several times even with the front jacked up. in replacing the therostat i found all the holes clogged. might have been why my car wasnt burping but i suspect not as the thermostat i put on there has only one hole. just a thought. how the hell do you "thouroughly" burp these cars? after jacking it up i got anouther 2 pints in it. dunno

The Murray brand T-stat - Thermostat part number 4089
DOES NOT WORK for our cars. Sold in many auto stores.

The Stant thermostat - T-stat works fantastic, 188*
Stant similar part number 14089 Works great!

Any truth to this guys cause this is what i put in my car?

If thats the case I'm gonna be really pissed off lol

I have the same problem here, couldnt get cap off, finally bought and put a new crossover tube in. Then the temp gauge wasn't working, so I replaced the temp sensor and sender, gauge works, but now it goes a little high. I haven't had much luck burping it. I also think my fan isn't turning on..... I fill it through the crossover until the overflow tank is full, then close the overflow tank, and continue through crossover tube, however, I don't get much (any) coolant in after the overflow is full. I'm gonna see if I cant find a real steep hill to park on, and if not I'll just have to jack it up as high as I can and leave it like that overnight to cool down. and fill in the am

I almost overheated again today. I swear there has to be something clogging the system. right now I'm waiting for the car to cool down enough to replace the tstat, then heres my plan...

...remove crossover tube, fill engine directly
attach crossover tube, fill radiator directly through upper hoses
attach hoses to crossover, fill at crossover cap until overflow full, replace cap on overflow, and TRY to fill at the crossover again, but this is where I run into problems.

I've filled the whole system via crossover cap, on level ground with the overflow cap off. When it gets full, I replace it, continue to fill at crossover, and I only can get like 4oz in before its full. This holds true when the car is jacked up as well, wtf is going on.

I'm gonna blow my damn engine if I can't find this problem quick, as its getting hot around here.

Oh, and I still don't think my fans are working, so I replaced the temp sender/sensor and that didn't help any.

I'm really hoping something is clogged in the tstat housing that can explain this.

tosses a guess into the wind.

VCRM is bad on the fan circut.

try this..

Turn on your AC
Does your cooling fan turn on?

If not, your fan isn't working.

fixing that MIGHT solve your problem.

Do not drive the car until you solve this, these motors dont tolerate "overheating" very well...and are expensive to R&R the headgaskets.
