Does anybody know if I take the guts out of my catalytic con and put them back on will it mess up the car.

It won't harm or improve performance, so why do it.

It will turn the check engine light on.

doing so will also make your exhaust smell, i would definitely recommend against it

not sure why you are thinking of doing it but if your car needs cats gutting them and replacing with hi flow is much less expensive than replacing them with oem replacements.

Power gain=minimal
noise level=increase
blow up muffler because you removed them=dought it, that car probably had another issue
