I can't seem to be finding any MOOG upper control arm/ball joint setups anywhere. I've found Raybestos Pro Grade, Mevotech, Duralast and Master Pro.

Does anybody know which (if any) of these have grease fittings? Mevotechs website implies all their ball joints do, but I would rather not wing it.

Also this is off-topic: My car is not misfiring, but it sounds strange at idle, like a friction sound under the valve covers perhaps. Hard to describe..I've never owned one of these before so I don't know how quiet the motors should or shouldn't be. Also is it normal for it to surge when it is started? Turn the key, starts..then hits like 2.5k for about 2 seconds then idles down to normal.

Just covering all the bases so I don't drive on a motor that's giving warning signs or something.

Thanks as always

Wow I could have sworn RockAuto had Moog uppers but I just checked and they don't for either gens. Why not OEM?

The startup "surge" is an emissions strategy that is required to meet the LEV requirements.

you order everything or just uppers?

OEM uppers (they're actually Jaguar arms), OEM Euro shocks, Moog stabilizer links, Moog ball joints, Energy Suspension stabilizer bushings, Deeza steering knuckles. I think I'm going to order hubs as well before I put her back together as mine are a bit rusty just so I don't have to mess with it again.

If you order the orders make sure you order the nuts as well. I got mine from Max.

Interesting.

How much are OEM's, where did you get them, and are the ball joints grease-able? I want the cheapest option that has the grease fitting.

Edit: Found OEM's @ fordparts.com for $123 but I mean for $20 more I can get aftermarket with a grease fitting possibly...if the Mevotechs dont have one than I might as well go OEM.

The startup surge is normal to me in my Gen. 2. The friction sound you describe ... tensioner maybe?

timing tensioner? That sounds like $$$ to me :( what are the symptoms of this?

None of the OEM suspension parts on this car are greasable.

I couldn't find any of the uppers that were greasable and believe me I looked. As for the ball joints I would recommend going with Moog. I went with Mevotech and the damn thing tore before I even got it on the car. The Moogs are much better made you can tell just by holding and looking at them side by side. You can get the oems from RockAuto for under $100 per side. I also searched google and got a 5% off coupon code.

I thought the uppers were a combo only.. If you could link me to the ball joints or elaborate that'd be swell. Im real confused now.

OEMs @ Rock Auto (MCSOE39) $92.89 BALL JOINT NOT INCLUDED

^^^Where do I get the ball joint??? And does it press in like the bottom or what.
Everywhere seems to only sell control arm/ball joint assemblies not separate

Really? F that. I always thought Chicago was the highest in the US due to our dependance on tar sand crude oil here....guess not. I have a 100MPG Honda Ruckus scooter that takes the edge off a little so I can't complain too much.
