So, if I have the 6 cd changer that isnt necessarily the alpine system correct? Even though I have the twelve speakers or whatever (at least I think I do. I have the center console speakers and rear subs with amps)?
Correct. The system, headunit and speakers are made by Pioneer and the number of speakers and placement in the car, along with a set of standards such as dispersion patterns, crossover points, voltage and current requirements among other intangiable things are set by University of Southern California grad, Tomlinson Holman, and his company (Tom Holman eXperiment aka: THX)
Its easy to get things confused with other systems manufacturers when its the only badging you see in the car but THX is not a product nor an item. You cannot touch it. It is an idea, It is a set of parameters that has to be met in order to recreate what sound engineers and ultimately what a movie director wants his audience to experience. It is a certification process.
Lincoln markets the system as a......... THX certified system.
Its a Pioneer.
