Process of buying 2004 v8 lincoln ls. Basically we bought the car with the dealership putting into the contract that they would fix the climate controls. (we never took possession, dealer in theory is fixing car now)We took the car for a test drive and really liked it. However the climate controls had no effect on air temp. Regardless of setting the stayed the air temp stayed the same. With max cold and a/c on , nothing. Temp set to hot had the same result. Any ideas as to the issue? climate control computer? bad sensors? etc. Only thing that did work was the blower motor. Not familiar with 6 cd radio in this car, should I be alarmed that the display shows the 3 circled and 5. I pressed eject and the damn thing mad noise for a bit before spitting out an error message on screen. ? Other than that the car SEEMED to be in great shape.

3 and 5 circled means there are discs in slots 3 and 5, the error probably means the thing is starting to fail and I would get the dealer to replace it considering how expensive a new one is, otherwise, i hit mine a few times when it does that and sometimes it works.

as far as the climate control, that sounds to me like the AC isn't engaging at all which is either because of a bad compressor, or the fuse for the dual climate control valve. if you can actually hear the compressor turning on then have the dealer check the AC system pressure. for no heat I would check the dual climate control valve fuse (heater control valve fuse) first because if that's bad then both of your problems are probably solved and you'll need a new fuse and a new DCCV. otherwise make sure the cooling system is bled completely. if none of that pans out then my next step would be to get the dealer to hook it up to a computer to read the air temp sensors. it is also possible for the DCCV to go bad without blowing the fuse for it.

Very common issues with the LS, CD eject mechanism fails eventually, CD's get stuck, needs a replacement radio and new DCCV. Ensure dealer corrects these issues before you take possession of it. Also, possibly bother them to make sure there is no misfiring going on, LS eat coils like crazy, cooling system is made up mostly of hard plastics and deteriorates at the worse of times (usually shortly after you take possession of it), make sure it's holding pressure and not leaking anywhere, specifically from the degas bottle. Make sure no hard or odd shifts coming from the trans.

Try and have them pencil in some warranty.

Your workshop repair manual for your 2nd GEN LS is available online here: http://deneau.info/ls/

In the Tech section you can download your 2004 Lincoln LS Owners Manual (pdf) http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/tech/

The odds of it being DCCV related are great. However, if the fuse for the DCCV is open (blown), then you get max heat all the time.

We have 90 day warranty written in. They tried to pull mechanical and I laughed hard so you they left with just warranty (heh the writer put per manager).

Meaning that if the a/c compressor dies it's going to be replaced. Under mechanical that is considered a wear item so it wouldn't be replaced.
