No better reason than this on why we need this law. If an innocent bystander had had a gun, maybe we would have 5 or 6 fewer punks roaming the streets.
 
That pisses me offf!!!!:mad: I have always said it, gang bangers, ghetto or ghetto wannabe brawlers, and useless street thugs are the most disgusting part of society. On my list they are just as stupidly retarded as Terrorists. The lowest form of Life on Earth lower than amebic parasites.:mad:

I must agree that concealed weapons law may help. But It would have to be very strictly regulated so weapons do not get in the wrong hands.

You are close, but don't quite get it yet.

The wrong hands are the people who ignore the law and carry anyway!

Gun control laws do not keep guns out of criminal's hands, but out of the law-abiding ones.

The more strictly it is regulated, the tougher it is to do it legally will do nothing to criminals, except make them MORE likely to commit crime.

Anyone who is unsure, look at violent crime statistics from States with cc permits. They are very low when compared to States who don't allow it.

Washington, D.C. illegal to have a gun, unbelievable violent crime rates there, Chicago, New York, etc. A problem in all big cities regardless of cc permits?

Check out Cincinnati or another sizeable city where people can and do carry. The crime rates there are much lower. Canada is having problems after there guns were taken away (easy to find the legal ones that registered them in the past, still plenty of guns in criminal hands).

I honestly do not understand the anti-gun people's reluctance to at least look at the statistical evidence regarding crime and guns. While most are probably very sincere in their belief's, there are some hypocrites out there. One of the most noticable is Rosie O'Donnel, if you don't remember, she is very anti-gun for you and I.

Now, when she was asked on her show why her adopted children's bodyguards were licensed to carry (and did so), her reply was that her children were special, more likely to be a target. I don't know about you, but my children are every bit as special as hers.

I think it is more trying to convince themselves and others that they are morally superior by bashing gun owners.

Here in New York City they make it very hard for a person to even get a Premise permit just to have the gun in your house let alone a carry permit. All though in more northern cities are more lax. In order to get a limited carry permit for a business you have to show that you make daily deposits of at least 10 thousand and above and again that is only a limited carry not full.

In NYC It's just an other way keep people from getting guns i think all though obtaining a permit for a shotgun to go hunting is alot more easy.

So to one last thing ok maybe 2

1. How many legal (still in the hands of the purchaser) guns do any of you that have been used in crimes?
2. Guns don't kill people! People kill people!
 
Without my declaring a view on this... I just want to pose a question.

If your average citizen was armed, how many 'friendly fire' incidents do you think we might have? Im talking about someone jumping the gun (no pun intended) and firing when they really shouldnt have, or shooting when its permissible to do so, but having a stray round hit the wrong person.
 
We all agree that not everyone should own a gun (like idiots) but that is what the screening is for. if your careless enough to shoot yourself or others then you don't have the right to own a gun. With out the correct training no one should own a gun.

The 3 basic rules for handling a gun is (this is all over the USA not just me talking crap- part of the training before you even put you hands on the gun)

1. Always treat a gun as if it were loaded
2. make sure of your target
3 make sure of beyond your target.

Now if they can't follow these rules then they don't deserve to have one

Your question ignores the enormous value of deterrence. If you know that people are going around armed, it's unlikely that you are going to try to provoke anybody. People would be just as likely to become more civil and respectful toward each other. More crimes would be prevented if the would-be perpetrators knew that their potential victims would be armed.

Let's not forget that the Bill of Rights states specifically that we as Americans have the right to BEAR arms, not just own them.
 
Nevada does issue concealed carry permits, both resident and non-resident.

They don't accept any other states' permits though, just their own. (aka no reciprocity).

In most states, a LOT of "average citizen(s)" are legally armed, Joey. You don't see them "jumpig the gun" as you so eloquently put it. Are there accidents where the wrong person may get shot, or where the concealed carry person makes a mistake? Hell yeah, but the incients are far and few between. I can show you videos of cops almost shooting their partners, or DEA agents shooting themselves in the foot (literally) right after telling a roomfull of people that only HE was qualified to operate a firearm in that room.

Point is, 99.9% of permitted concealed carry individuals have a better understanding of when they can and cannot draw that weapon than a "layman"

Most "average citizens" who are CCW'd go shooting more than most cops do. I, for example fire on average of 15000 (yes, thousand) rounds a year. Granted, I'm in somewhat of a unique position, where I kinda have to, but most CCW permit holders I know go shooting at least once a week. Hell, I know a 17 year old that outscored the Local Sheriff Department's SWAT commander.

As nobodyspecial said it, the big cities/states with Strict Gun Control laws are pretty much lawless, and crime runs rampant. Why? The main reason being that the crooks KNOW the "average citizen" (god I love that description), does NOT have a firearm to protect him/her self against them.

In my residence state, residents can open carry without a permit, and ofcourse, concealed with a permit. Do you know when the last time we've had a convenience store, bank, etc robbery in this city was? Neither do I, but I know we haven't had one around here in the almost 5 years I've lived here.

The point I'm trying to make is that law abiding citizens legally carrying firearms can and DO stop crime every day.

Good post man, I still say put it into effect. I like this idea. I am all for it. Just keep the regulations on it present and put it into effect. Thats my two cents anyways. I would be one of the first people to go and apply for that permit.
 
We have had concealed handgun permits for a few years now, if a person wants to or needs one they should be able to get one. Here you have to take a class in order to get a permit.
