Computer help please

I have a compaq presario sr5030nx and I just installed a wireless network card. And its telling me it wont work cause I need to update my bio's(also what the indian guy on the phone said) I have no idea how to do that. Can someone please help me? Im running vista basic 32bit.

go to compaq's sight to see who makes your motherboard, or look for the name on it. Then go to that sight and see if they have a auto bios updater program for it.

Well that didnt work. Said their was a issue.

Definitely not a bios problem. You should never update the bios on a pre configured pc unless there is a specific problem that a newer release solves. Me, on the other hand, update mine because of an issue with ram.

Look into all windows vista updates, and updated drivers from the manufacturers website first.

Yep, and sometimes Vista just doesnt play nice with old hardware. What wireless card did you get?
Definitely install all updates and the latest drivers from the card's website.
