Interesting trip to the dealer...

The tech said that all eight boots were soaked in oil, but only replaced the valve cover gasket, plugs, and the BOOTS on the coils, but did not replace a single coil, saying that they all passed testing. It was my understanding from reading the TSB that if there was oil present, the coils should be replaced. Did I missunderstand, or should I go back to the dealer and have them finish the job?

Have them replace them. Don't let them cheap out on the deal. 2 of my coils went bad on my 2003 and "passing the test" didn't cut it for me, they were replaced.

Thank you, sir... since they were ALL oil soaked, should I make sure ALL of them get replaced? I wonder if I should dye-dot all of them in some way to verify that the dealer changes every damned one...

Thats a good idea, I personally would ask to have all of them replaced because Lincoln knows there is an issue with them.

Let us know how it turns out.
