Hey what's up guys, got a 2002 LS V8. I read a few threads that was stateing the covers was needed to keep moisture out. So I started thinking, condensation will build up any place be it covered or not, then I thought water have reduced mountains to small terrains, what makes these coil covers any different. So for the past 6 months, I have been running with the covers off, and through heavy rain and more I haven't had any problems. ( that's just me I don't know for anyone else), I'm thinking the covers is part of the cause besides the failing gaskets for the coil failure, was thinking about creating some type of air flow tube, or vacuum that would either blow cool air over the coils, or take hot air away from the coils. Maybe if the temp is better controlled, in the coil wells it would help keep them from a internal break down, do to the excessive heat in the coil well.

Just my opinion. What do you guys think?

What do I think, I think you should take that thinking cap off and spend your money and efforts on getting a new set of coils and keep them as spares. They will eventually begin to fail one by one, cover or no cover and trying to spend time and effort on blowing air across them or removing air all together, is simply redundant in my opinion.

I'd just leave it alone. COPS will not last forever regardless. Someone would be very rich if they made them affordably outlast the car.

Yea the air flow thing was just a thought, and as for the cops lasting forever you would think they'ed be better made to at least last longer then they do. I couldn't find the visteons on eBay and refuse to give the stealer ship $400 for a set so leaving the covers off, has its benefits, lol cause ill be back and fourth to the sell your soul parts store for cheap parts, Lol

I'd hate for all that dirt and **** to get down in those holes. Its not easy to get out and the sparkplugs will eventually need to be changed...

I guess it's just a matter of expectations. Personally, my COPs lasted approximately 100k miles. I'm cool with that. Now if it were every 10k miles that I had to drop some serious coin on COPs then I'd have an issue with it.
