ive been debating whether to keep my air ride or convert to springs. one thing thats been bugging me is my air ride, after a day or two of not being started the car goes all the way to the floor, the right side lower than the left but both low enough where the top half of the tire isn't visible anymore lol. when i start the car up it goes right back up to its right height but i know air ride components are expensive to replace. im getting 18'' speedstars and im going to run 255/45/18 conti extreme contact dws all around, i don't want the tires to rub when i don't start the car up. my question is, am i better off converting and not worrying about replacing all the air ride parts? can anybody give me a link of where i can get the spring conversion kit and one that'll lower the car about an inch?

255s aren't too bad. i wouldn't think it would be the end of the world if the car slammed overnight with them.
however, if it slammed while it was moving, idk about that.

if you converted: http://www.americanairsuspension.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MK8CV

american air. good stock replacement. eddie is a good guy.
otherwise, tokico blues and vogtland drop springs (for a tbird) for a more performance oriented (but more expensive) ride.

i gotcha, im just worried because it goes really low. ill probably go with them, should i get the rims and tires first and then see if its needs to be lowered? i see one of the options with the conversion kit is 1.5'' lowering

it wont "need" to be lowered, but if you want lower with the springs, the dropped set is an easy way to do it.

of course, you should fix your leak asap. new bags, coils, whatever. because the longer you wait, the more expensive it gets.

you can always convert to springs and then go back to air at a later date when time and money aren't the issue.

That's exactly what I want to do. So I just added two of the HU3689s to my cart with a discount code and my total is $125.60 That is a helluva deal I think. Tell me these are the ones I need and I will pull the trigger on this.

If those are the rear's then it's sound's on par with what most places sell them for. The front's (he3690) can be had on ebay for 160 shipped for a pair.

You have that backwards. The HU3689s are the front strut/shock absorber assembly.

As seen here:

Pay no attention to the photo on parts train, that is not an actual depiction of what I bought. Maybe that's where you got confused because it appears to be a rear shock in the parts train photo. What I am getting is what you see in the ebay link. ;)

At that price I assumed they were the rears, that's a VERY good deal for the front's.

What's the code ;)
