cobra MAF

Same same. Really no need for a better MAF or a bigger MAF. Its like asking is a Cobra crank sensor is better. :)

If you get a larger MAF I hope you have larger exhaust and a bigger throttle body.

we just tossing it around......i found one of craigslist locally for $25, didn't know if it was any better of not.....

If you get a larger MAF I hope you have supercharger or turbocharger that would actually need the additional air flow otherwise you are giving up bottom end fuel control as a trade off for headroom on a maf that you'll never hit......

there fixed it for ya!
*grins*

show me a datalog where a stock mark 8 pegs the stock meter THEN and ONLY then should you increase the MAF size.

data shall set you free.

look at this screen cap from my last datalog at the track.
I placed the indicator at the peak RPM on that run, which was the 1-2 shift.

You can see the line that is red is the RPM trace and it peak at 6156
The yellow line is MAF AD counts, which translate into maf voltage in the lower right hand window in the MAF transfer function for a stock mark 8 that I added into this photo for reference.

at 6156 RPM's the MAF AD counts are at 883 out of 1024

883 AD counts is between 4.24volts and 4.49 volts out of a possible 5Volt range.

Clearly this shows the stock NA mark 8 has enough top end overhead with the stock air meter in place.

What happens when you put a larger meter on there, is you lose the bottom end "resolution" of the maf table, which means your part throttle and low RPM fuel control is limited...this is bad

Then when you go WOT rather than using MOST of the MAF sensors range you only use about half of the range....this is bad

When I had a larger maf on my first gen at WOT at 6K the maf voltage was 2.8-3.0 which if you look at the transfer function is only using the "bottom half" of the MAF transfer function...this is bad

From a tuning stand point this is bad..very bad.

it has the housing and the sensor. From what I recall from the past the mark8 sensor wont fit in the housing, and the cobra sensor wont plug into the mark8 harness. But if you want to buy it for $25 ill be more than happy to aleviate your wallet of its strain.
