well i did the hub swap on my lincoln about a week ago and didnt really drive it since. well I noticed that when i am going down the road i heard a rattle so i pull it back into the shop and the calipers rattle when the brakes arent pressed... hence why i never heard the rattle when i was pushing the brakes. any ideas on how i could get rid of the rattle? I know they are one right cause i checked them with the cobra... thoughts?

mine rattle too
I assume that the clips that go on the back of each pad are
week even thought mine are new $240 break pads (i didnt pay that)
also i have heard of some of the "springs" that hold the pad in place can be week

when I have time I will try the old clips or bending the new ones to see if it helps

ok i will just deal with the rattle then for now... i will eventually try to figure something out but it makes me feel better that someone elses rattle...

Could be the pads clips. Pull the caliper and see if a pad just falls off. If one falls off then thats your weak clip. If all are tight then the clip that holds the caliper in place may be worn if its a used set. My 96 rattled because of those. The last thing is making sure the wheel is clamping the rotor in place tight. If the hub has some corosion built up and the rotor dont sit flush against the hub then it will wobble just a tiny bit which pushes the piston back more and will give a rattle sound as it smacks them. Seen that on a 2000 Mustang GT.
