Clunking from front?

sigh. unhook a sway bar end link. its easy. does the sound go away? if yes, replace them.

i had a totally blown upper ball joint. no noise. no clunk.
had two separate sets of totally blown lower ball joints. no noise. no clunk.
had a set of blown sway bar end links. rattled and clunked like a mofo.

there are 2 (two) sway bars in this car. front and rear.

the cross bar on the k member is just a bar. strengthening i suppose.

Once again my TRW/MOOG front end parts with 40 some odd K on them...GARBAGE
TRW/MOOG JUNK

I don't care to defend a certain company, but I've found on the MN12's I've owned before this that no matter what brand you use or how well you install them and maintain the car, they chew up the front end suspension like nothing I've ever seen.

Sigh....oh lawd its a fawr!! Haha anyhow, the culprit was, the sway bar end links. Geez, for something so small, you wouldn't think they would make that much noise! Car rides amazing now, with the help of new lcas and new strut rod bushings. Thank you guys very much!!! Might as well do the ucas while I'm at it! Time for the rear sway bar links now also.

Besides really shot lower ball joints I don't think anything else makes such a loud annoying noise besides the sway bar links up front.

Yes Chris, toot your horn lol! Well, just been putting it off. Usually sleep after I get off work, or busy with something else and I don't usually do things right away. :p Ahh, stress relief!

Time to bring up an old thread, but looking on rock auto do I want these?

MOTORCRAFT Part # MCS18128 these are the greasable ones they sell for 45$ a piece

I am sure they are the correct ones. I went with Mevotech, because they were cheap, and are greaseable also. Also, I just don't buy anything without pictures, just how I am. In short, if you want OEM though, yes you want them.

I finally got rid of my clunk in my 96 lsc. I replaced the sway bar bushings. There was a little bit of play on one side with the original bushings. I had replaced that side's link and that helped for awhile (maybe one week). I replaced original bushings with some carquest blue urethane style (perhaps only type avail. now). The front end feels much stiffer and it actually made the arnott air shocks feel stiffer! As a mechanic I have replaced numerous sway bar busings on chrysler mini vans for noise. We've not had the best luck with aftermarked urethane ones on the vans, opting to use original rubber ones. I'll see how long these urethane ones work on the mark. The only problem I had installing them is that the arnott shocks allowed the sway bar to almost touch the oil pan. It would have been easier to undo the links first. I know my upper trw-moog control arms will "pop" when pushing and pulling but apparently don't show up when driving.
