So my SCT software arrived and its running. Just need my XCal to show up.

Um, there are lots of pretty boxes! Ya... I think they do stuff. Not sure yet. Might have to fly Tommy in :)

Haha I'm taking it you got the pro racer software? Yeah I hear there's a pretty steep learning curve for it, but well worth it!

Thats the stuff. Advantage III.

Looks pretty easy to manipulate - if you understand the values. But overall it does not look at all that complex.

Yeah, it's that whole "understanding the values" thing that's the hard part lol. Do you have a wideband, or are you gonna be tuning without it?

If your dealer provides you with even a decent file to start with, then it makes the learning process alot easier.

Being able to compare the stock pcm to a modified file went along ways into
1.answering my questions
2.creating more questions

NoNoNO...brandon has said several times his toon is better than the calibration I have.
brandon is the man..CALL HIM

check your PM box for his phone number.

Try this,
open the software, type in your catch code.
What you see there is the stock PCM.

Then click on "file" then "new" and type in your PCM code.
Now you have two stock files open.

THEN
click on the #2 tab, which should be marked "yourcatchcode-2"
Then click on "file" then click "load all values".
When you do that you may have to browse to your c/windows/program files/advantageIII folder and file the value files folder.

IN that folder SHOULD be a mark 8 file in the 4V4.6 folder.

Once you apply that value file TO the stock file you now have a file you can compare to the stock file.

Then you can see what values are changed and by how much.
THIS will help you early on, over the largest steepest part of the learning curve.

IMHO the hardest thing to figure out was WHAT to change and HOW MUCH to change...looking at various value files really helped.

My chip tuner just sent me all my files including the "stock" program for my PCM.

I can bring them in and compare all the values to stock and see what he changed. I will also upload one of his to the car for practice.

And how much would I have to invest for that? So swap out the O2s and get another device.

I am learning and have to start somewhere.

You can do a lot of tuning without the wideband... especially the trans stuff... but if you have the means I would highly suggest picking one up. They run on the $400+ range.
