okay so I am pretty sure my clock spring is bad, I looked up and save Sully's write and looked through the threads to diagnose my problem.

This is what I want to know, is there any danger in the airbage deploying?

The airbag light came on just yesterday, but I don't have the extra money to replace it this week it will have to wait until next, should I be safe or maybe borrow my dads truck.

Also does it comtrol anything else that is imparitive to driving, I don't care about the radio controls, I have am aftermarket radio, and I don't use cruise in the city, or the horn really, I just yell really loud at people

Danger of airbag deploying:

While driving - no, not even if you need it to.

While changing clockspring - very slight danger if you generate a big enough static discharge or are very careless about the connections.

Imperative to driving - No, other than having a working horn being a legal requirement in some areas.

okay the reason I ask it the light doesnt always come on right away, which made me think that it was getting power, then not, and then getting power, and maybe short out. Thanks Joe, I plan to fix this next weekend when I get paid again.

My light just came on the other day as well, code 3-2.. All my controls still work and my horn still works, I must admit its annoying seeing the airbag light on but replacing the clockspring isn't anywhere near the top of the list for repairs/mods. So it will stay on throughout the winter lol.

i'll be doing mine soon, my lights been on for like 5 months... you;ll be fine.

I think I need to do mine too. I'm really busy with working full time 7 days a week plus going to school full time, 12 units. I'll probably replace it later this fall or winter.

My symptoms are airbag light on even after replaced the damaged wiring under the seat. My cruise control buttons don't always work right. It works right about 50% of the time the rest of the time the buttons are one off from each other. Meaning "set +" becomes "resume" and set minus becomes "set +" and cancel becomes "set -" The on/off buttons still work right though.

Interesting, all my other functions work on my steering wheel other than audio, Aftermarket HU, you mean there are other wires under the seat that may cause the Air Bag light to come on....?

have you checked for codes? IIRC it will tell you where the failure is.

I did, my scanner didn't pull any, maybe it can't find them or it hasn't actually recorded a code. It also only comes on after the car has been on for a while. Maybe thats why the scanner didn't see it.

Mine will flash for a bit when started, go away, when stay on after a min or so.... but my steering buttons dont work (cruise barely)

Yes, there are. There are also many other possible failures, such as the passenger front bag, any of the crash sensors, or the RCM itself. The two common issues are the clockspring and the connector under the driver's seat.

Also note that it is very possible to have only the SRS part of the clockspring fail. If so, everything else would still work.

If you count the flash codes from the SRS light at start up, you'll have a better idea what's happening. If you get 32 or 36, then it's probably one of the two most common issues mentioned above. If it's another code, post it.

The flash for a bit part is when it's flashing out the two digit LFC for the SRS (LFC = lamp fault code).

My light has been on for about 2 years. I don't use the steering wheel controls and rarely use the horn. I had it replaced about 3 years ago and the light came back on a year later so i refuse to pay to get it fixed.
