Has anyone noticed how the a/c comes on every time you change the mode of air travel? Even if the temp is set on 85? Is there any way to fix this? Its not a big deal but its really starting to annoy me. thanks for the help everyone!

A/C is the dehumidification of air. Doesnt matter if the air is 60-85 degrees. Next time you are in a bad rain storm with your windows rolled up and your windows fog in 50-60 degree weather, turn on your AC at 85 degrees and see how fast the windows defrost. This is normal.

good point, im not used to having air, so when its cold out it seemed contradictory to me to have the a/c running while the heat is on. Thanks for the help though.

also, another question popped into my head. I know these cars have problems with the rear window defrosters but how do they fail? do they slowly stop working, or all the sudden cease function? I ask because it seems to take forever for the rear window to de-fog/frost. In my last car, the defroster was a beast, it could take a sheet of ice off in ten minutes. Could window tint affect this too?

Don't know what type of LS you have, but I've never heard of any problems with the rear defrosters on the LS. How did you come by this information?

FYI, my rear defroster cleans off ice and fog in minutes.

TSB 04-13-7

2000 to 2004 LS

Terminals coming lose or breaking. Either the rear window defroster works or not.

Or broken grid lines. You can repair that with a repair kit found at auto stores paint over brake with special metallic paint.

+1 on that TSB. The terminal on my rear window works perfectly although it does come lose often.

huh, i wonder why my defroster is so anemic then, my friend told me it could be due to the window tint, but i would think that the tint would have an opposite affect as black absorbs heat so well. Good to know that the defroster is all or nothing though. Thanks again guys!!
