LED Question for Headlight Corner Turn Signal

LED Question for Headlight Corner Turn Signal:

I removed the Amber Lens in the Gen1 Headlight (black sealant, I still have another one to do).

It does look better during the day, but honestly I don't like it at night.

I have a regular 3157 Amber bulb in the corner of the headlight for the parking/turn signal (3157 Chrome/Amber on order).

It does not give out as much light. It's not as safe at night (the original Amber Lens is brighter and works much better for signaling).

Does anyone know "for sure" of a specific manufacturer part# of a LED 3157 Amber that I can put in there, that "does not" require a "Flasher Relay Load Equilizer" or "LED Resistor"?

I don't want to mess with any of that. I want a drop in LED 3157 Amber that is designed correctly and has no blinking/flashing issues and gives no errors in the car. I'd rather pay extra money for something designed correctly.

Otherwise I wonder how the Clear Lens with an Amber bulb looks at night (requires buying new headlights though).

As it stands now, I do not like it at night (i.e. removal of Amber Lens from Headlight). Removal of other Amber Lens on hold, as I may put this one back in. If I find a correct bulb/LED that will give out proper sufficent light then I will continue on.

I do want this look during the day, just need to improve the night...
 
Don't know about gen1s, but on gen2s you can put 4 LED bulbs for the turb signal, 2 up front and 2 in the rear, and you wont get a bulb out message and wont need any resistors.

Are you saying the LED bulb is not bright enough to see when you are signaling? If so, I find that hard to believe. LED's are usually brighter than the stock filament bulbs.
 
I have the 3157 Amber incandescent bulb in the drivers side without the Amber Lens (it's more of a dull amber glow).
It's not as bright as the 3157 Clear incandescent bulb with the original Amber Lens in the passenger side.

1st picture in garage of drivers side (with the headlights on it looks even dimmer/duller):

No Amber Lens in headlight w/3157 Amber incandescent bulb (clear bumper marker and 4LED 194a Amber).

2nd picture in garage of passenger side:

Original stock headlight w/Amber Lens w/3157 Clear stock incandescent bulb (clear bumper marker and incandescent 194a Amber bulb).

I returned these without trying them, as there were too many reviews on various cars about fast blinking or no blinking when the turn signal was on, or bulb out messages:

Anyone recommend a LED 3157A that works with no mods and no issues? That's all that I am looking for... (maybe I will need to do all 4 corner turn signal bulbs, that is no problem). I just want something proven that works without adding "Flasher Relay Load Equilizers" or "LED Resistors", and not have bulb out messages.

I've used the sylvania bulb before in another car and was happy with it. IIRC I think someone here is running stealth bulbs. Those sylvania bulbs are discontinued and can only be purchased online now.
 
sorry for posting this here but can you just take off the lens in the bumper or do you have to take the bumper off

gonna be putting in the clear lens thanks

The flash was on in both pictures above, so at least they are consistent in being taken in the same light. There was no lights on in the garage, just the car and camera phone flash. It won't take a picture in that dark setting without the flash. But you can clearly tell the passenger side is way more amber/brighter/fuller.

I am going to cut the passenger side apart now, as I can't take it anymore... it looks too good during the daytime without the amber lens. I am not going to heat it up in the oven, as I had to cut it apart anyway.

I will just have to play with bulbs/LED's in the future to get it lit the way I want.

I was hoping to find someone to recommend me some LED part#'s to save money and not have bulb out issues or need relays/resistors.
 
Well I did cut it all the way around using a dremel cutting disk, but to get it cut deeper without bogging down the dremel I will have to heat it. So into the oven she goes.

that depends on the bulbs themselves, i have a set of LED turns, and they required load resistors.
 
oh yeah, I forgot to add the ones I used were from v-leds.
 
Here's some pictures since recent changes of clear side corners, clear side markers and '06 LSE grille.
(I still need to get some body work and colormatch/paint done).

I just ordered Chrome 194A, Chrome 3157A, and Sylvania 3157A SilverStar bulbs. No more LED's for me.
(I am going to remove the 4LED 194A's, as they stay on for hours, and put in standard 194A bulb's for now).

is your ls blue? The top piece of your grille looks black but your car blue.

Headlights look good
 
My car is blue. They don't sell that grille in that blue, so yes the grille is black. It will be color matched when the rear bumper and some door dents get repaired/painted. So I bought the grille and did the exhaust cut-outs before it goes to paint. Still need to decide on color matching the rear license surround. Seems the people that are most vocal here like that color matched too. I think it may look kinda plain on the rear color matched... still undecided.

Painting brake calipers Tuesday, going to AZRentALift ($15 first hour, $10 each hour after that).

That's a nice color. Yeah most color match the rear surround, looks cleaner, but if you like it keep it chrome, it's your car.
 
Looking at the rear chrome surround more the chrome is starting to fade and kinda has a pitted look to it in places. I guess it's time to paint it/color match it too.
 
I have a set of clear corners that I bought recently for my 2002 V8 Sport Model. I have tried to install them but I have not been able to get them to stay in place. Also, I can't seem to get the stock light back in properly either. Is there a "TRICK" to making this happen? There is a tab in the corner light hole but I can't get them to snap in. Anybody please, your help would be appreciated.

Read post numbers 5, 6, & 7 in this thread for access to the inside of the bumper to hold the tab to lock it in place (remove the headlight or go in from the fender well):

Idk if u ever looked into upgrading to LED's (on any part of the car)...i havent looked specifically for the front cause im waiting to buy a set of light with the clear corners pre-installed as well as upgrading to HID's and Angel eyes (i want the color changing ones for 300 well worth the xtra hundred over the standard ones imo)....but i, like you would want to use LED's for the turn signals and the reverse lights/brake lights.
Now i know for the rear end, all it takes is some 10-100ohm resistors (all of about 20cents a piece if boughten individually from radioshack)...add a good hour of stripping wire n sodering n you should be good to go. No errors. Now i cant imagine its any different for the front, but if it is i should think someone will chime in and correct me here!
just my 2cents as im not sure how well your search for a bright orange LED that is plug n play on a car not designed for LED indication systems. Cause as far as i know...alll the interriors are plug n play (no resistors needed)
 
disregard the above...didnt read the post saying u abandoned the LED quest :)
Normally i am a fan of color matching...but i think it looks good on ur color car espically since you have the chrome wheels its a good way to keep the chrome balanced through out the extremities of the car.
