Cleaning intake plenum

Has anybody found a product or a method to clean the exterior of the cast aluminum plenum ? I have seen some pretty ones on here so I am curious how they did it. Mine is powdery and just looks nasty compared to the rest of the engine compartment. This is for a gen II so any info would be appreciated. Thanx Bruce

Simple green or grime reaper from chemical guys. The reaper is more than simple green but there is less work needed.
