I've been constantly thinking about adding chrome window trim to my '06, not around the entire "green house" but just along the top of the doors, it would be just the straight strip, like you see on newer cars (MKX, etc). I think that it would add a nice classy detail to an my all black car since it has slight touches of chrome with the grill up front, etc. I know most owners here try to get away from the chrome look, but has anyone done this, or removed the upper pieces and just left the straight bottom run? Also, my existing black rubber trim has several scuff marks from some overzealous car detailer and they look pretty crappy...

I priced new replacements from Max and they are pretty pricey, I guess I could canvas local junkyards, but they're still hard to find. Anyone remove theirs and want to sell?

I want the bottom portion myself. The chrome trim adds some good contrast and defining lines.

TDUB, I just PM's you.

not to change the subject, but I just put on the 20mm adapters from Junior...here's my filthy, unlowered 4x4 car with the adapters LOL:

well that didn't work! I can never post pics, wtf?! Let's try this again...

That looks better. With a drop, it will be golden

thanks Alax7, I agree that it will look much better, can't wait to get the springs installed, but I'm not up for doing it myself so I'm in the process of finding someone....anybody in the NorthEast area want to organize a "spring install" day?! food, beer and a pool available, LOL!

I'm getting my Magnaflows and Silverline tips installed tomorrow am, so the car is almost there....maybe that brake package in a little while when my brakes are close to expiration, as long as the deal continues.

I'm with ya, NHV - I'm doing my Eibachs in a week or so, but have a long grocery list of stuff to do:

Finish audio upgrade (referenced in another post)
Full-on detail/paint correction with Menzerna polishes and PC 7424XP
Magnaflow muffler upgrade (aka Andrizzle system)

I'm doing the paint correction this weekend, and hope to get my amps mounted in the trunk as well. Need to schedule a time with Loud to finish the wiring after that.

I've got a guy that works at a Ford dealership that will swap the springs off with the dealership's hydraulic assembly if I get them off the car, so all I have to do is mark 'em, take 'em off, and put the new ones back on.

Happy wrenchin,

Good luck to you as well Tru, you've got a bit more than me!! I'm thinking of the angel eyes mod as well with Alax...it looks so great.

That might be on the 2011 list for me. However, I'd like to find a set of OEM HID housings first. Doing HID in halogen housings on the LS seems to be iffy - depending on who you talk to. I'm concerned about the glare issue for incoming traffic. Pektel has engineered himself some homemade Casper shields for his, so I may consider that if I can't find some OEM housings without selling one of my kidneys.

I guess I'm lucky on that end since I have factory HID, but I wish they were projector as reflector HID looks sh***y. I never wanted to go the AE route since it's a BMW thing but what I saw from Alax looks so nice, especially considering the price. But after that, I'm done! I just want a clean, mostly factory looking LS. Damn Vulcans would've been soooo nice though, grrr!

:Beer Glare is bad, props to you! What I considered doing was painting over the bulb using some hi-temp paint, to match the coating of a D2R, plus add some extra to the bottom of the capsule to further reduce glare. I have no idea how this would work out in practice though, but for about $50 (ddm kit), you can't go wrong.

If you want OEM HIDs, just keep looking on eBay. That's how I got mine (2 orders about a month apart). I have an extra driver side headlamp too, but it has 2 fairly deep gashes on surface.

Pic from when i did it. Windows weren't tinted yet thou, looks much better with tint. Side markers and corner lights are all blacked out now too.

Actually, I'm really feeling it without the tint, which is good since I am not and won't be tinted. Love the look, makes the car look a little more luxurious, IMO.

Now I really need to find some trim....hopefully TDUB wants my black trim and his chrome trim is great shape haha!!

Have you considered chrome vinyl? Most people use black vinyl to mask chrome, but you could do the opposite to add some. I will be giving it a shot soon, if you wanna wait a couple of weeks.

No I haven't actually. I'd be interested to see the outcome of that. keep us posted!

Oh, and to change the subject again, hahaha, but I got the Magnaflow mufflers and Ansa Silverline tips installed yesterday...came out nice and I love the added aggresiveness without it being too much!!

the car's a little cleaner now but still in 4x4 mode, although I'm on the fence still with installing the Eibachs...

Both on Ebay...got the tips based on Bullschmidt's post and got them from the same place, OctaneAutoSupply $42.24 shipped for the pair, got them in a few days...awesome price for really nice stainless (not chrome) tips.

The mufflers I bought from WideOpenSpeed, pair shipped for $126 using their "make an offer" option...good price I think but they took almost 2 weeks to come...

Had Lou's Custom Exhaust in Lawrence, MA do the install based on several recommendations. Cost $140 but it was convenient for me. They took it early Satruday morning, had it done in 45 minutes...the guy who did the install was in love with my LS, LOL!

Although, I did get a quote from Lou's if they did everything and it was $375 and that was with polished mufflers, so I saved a little money @ $308.24
and you can't even see the mufflers anyway...

we should get a new england meet organized this summer

That would be cool. Don't know how many New Englanders are on LVC, but that could be fun...any thoughts as to where?

I live in NH, but work in MA, outside of Boston so that would be a nice option (for me, anyway LOL!)

Maybe we should post in the regional section...

Nice ride shaping up, minus the original thread post saying you want to put chrome trim on.

Get some tint poppin'!

Haha, I know that adding chrome is against the norm on LVC LOL! Still think I'm going to do it if and when I can find some pieces.

And no to tint, it's too much of a legal hassle in New Hampshire. You can't have any tint on the driver/front passenger windows...only the rear windows...it looks so stupid and my last 3 cars had tint and I would always need to find a garage to pass me and drive with windows down even in winter in certain areas/towns...my Viggen was tinted all around, titanium tint, even the windshield (I paid to have the windshield tint removed) and the car was so low. Whenever inspection time came around I would stress....this is my Viggen after the windshield tint was removed...FWIW, I really need a nice camera, damn.
