im not a big fan of chrome on the car. how can you paint or take off the chrome strips on the bumper, as well as the grille surround and the back light surround?

hey if u get the chrome off the bumper the front and back an they still look good u think i can have them ??

PAinting the chrome requires a lot of prep work. I left it up to my paint guy to do it. Mine is the sports package so it didnt have the strips. but i did paint the rear surround, and grill. I know Ken at lskoncepts.com, has a write up on his site about painting hte chrome. Look on there im sure he can help you.

The chrome around the grill can be painted as well as the chrome around the rear surround. There are some threads on this site about that because I remember reading about it. As far as the chrome on the bumpers goes, I guess they can be painted as well. Never saw or heard of anyone doing it. Let me say this, the chrome can be painted but it must be prepped right. I would checked with your local body shop and see can or will they attempt to do it. Like I said, there is a thread on here where people have painted the grill and the rear surround. Hope this helps.

I'm a little late on this one but I had my cousin (owns a body shop) paint the rear surround on my 03 black. Turned out real nice, but I might have him redo it because when I replaced my front grill, I broke the emblem and I'm going to put the emblem on the front. There for I'm thinking of having him fill in the location of the emblem on the rear and repainting; I think it would look really good, and look pretty unique.

Anyone know how the chrome strips are attached on an 01? Is it just some kind of adhesive? I might remember reading something about clips?

There are metal clips that hold the chrome molding on. You would have to take the bumper off to take those clips off. It would be better to paint the chrome strips on the car. At least it would be less headache.

not to hijack the thread but along with painting the chrome...how bout painting the plastic too, as in turning a stock grille into a color matched, chrome inlay, lse grille...

i heard there was a special way to do it.. if u want to go cheap u can always use latex and repaint it whenever it starts coming off.. (but i wouldnt recommend that..).. i know a girl that posted pics on this earlier when i first started posting here.. do some searching on LVC and see if u find anything
