Hi,

I had 3.73 rear gears in 93 for about 2 years now, thinking about a buying a chip, any of you guy think I should have it burnt for the new 3.73 gears? and I been thinking about a shift kit too or should I have the chip burnt, or add a shift kit or for get about the shift kit?

Get both

I suggest getting both a chip and a shift kit.

Shift kits I know of, provide larger passages for the fluid to pass through, and consequently firm up the shifts. A chip firms up shifts by increasing the pressure of the fluid moving through the valve body.

This is my opinion only, but having larger passages available for the fluid to travel thorough just sounds like the safer way to go.

You should still get the chip though; they have a whole host of benefits that shouldn't be ignored.

You could use a mild setting on the shift kit, in concert with a firmed-up shift programmed into your chip.

When you get your chip you should tell the person burning it that you have 3.73 gears, of course.
