Hey guys,

I am looking into buying a chip for my 97 lsc. They guy im buying it from says its set up for a 180 T-stat 22c plugs. My car is stock. Will I be able to run this problem free? He said the parts are fairly cheap to change out. I wouldnt be opposed to changing the plugs because its simple but i dont really want to mess with the t-stat. He said he ran it with the stock stuff for a short time and said it was the same. I just wanted to make sure it wasnt going to hurt anything. Thanks in advance

You may never notice.

The fan turn-on point MAY be set lower, but worst case is the fan will run more than otherwise.

If the timing was adjusted more for colder plugs, the worst case would be the knock-sensors would pull timing back out as required.

Do the codes have to match? The "program code" or whatever on the ECU? I thought that was the only catch on swapping chips from one car to another.

Yeah the codes have to match but each program on a chip can be different to make up for the different mods that are done to that car.

I guess there is not too much to worry about unless the two cars are RADICALLY different. But it sounds as if they are not. By that I mean super-charged or something.... If its a deal, go for it. And you can usually send the chip in for adjustments.
