Check exterior lights warning when lights are working fine.

I just installed some aftermarket hid lighting in my 1993 Lincoln mark viii .
Sometimes it triggers the check exterior light warning on my dash but all the lights are working fine when this warning comes on. This only started happening when I installed the new lights but it doesn't happen every time .
Could it be that I didn't ground the ballast?

it's probably just that the HID lights trip the warning. pretty common side effect of aftermarket HID systems.

mine do it sometimes, just hit the reset and keep going
