I got a message asking to check the advance track system a couple times over the past week (No ABS light). I took it into the stealership today to have them pull any codes and they came back and told me the problem was the wrong vin code was programmed into the ecm, and it would cost me $200 to have it reprogrammed.

I know I'm not an expert by any means, but this just doesn't sit right with me. I really don't see how the wrong vin could have caused this message. Can anybody help me out on this one?

Do you by chance have a failing or bad dccv? Or any coil issues?

I've recently lowered my car and put different wheels on. I was carefull not to bump or damage anything.

The "checkadvanctrac" is lit on the dash and on the cosole the button is lit up, the traction control does not work.

My ABS light was on for about 3 days then went out. The ADVTRAC light is still on in the dash and on the console. The light stays on ALWAYS, after the car has been off for an hour or even 12 hours.. the light in the console for the trac control is always lit. Its like the car can't sleep.

My battery completely drains if I let the car sit more than 1 day. So if I don't drive it everyday it will be dead and require a charge or jumpstart. The battery is the correct one, and is brand new. (replaced it because I thought its age and whatnot were the cause of the car not starting, I didn't realize at that time the AdvancTrac button light was staying on forever)

Halp!

PS I have no DCCV or failing coils. I have a DMM but am retarded with using it past checking the voltage on a battery, I don't know how to check anything else with it.

I believe I have found the answers to our questions. I just spoke with my a family friend who is a Ford senior master tech and he cleared up everything for me. I took my LS in for service for two message center errors, service parking brake, and service advancetrack

Apparently both a bad dccv or coils can cause voltage spikes in the system which could corrupt data in the ecm causing a conflict between the ecm and other components like the advance track and parking brake.

I have known for alittle while now my dccv had been bad but didn't worry about it cause I still had my heat and didn't need any a/c for winter. He said most likely my faulty dccv has caused both errors from the built AS-built data conflicting with both systems.

Sorry i couldnt have been of more service silver....if I was you i would start by checking your wheel speed sensors to see if maybe one has failed or is majorly dirty

I am pretty sure the DCCV and Coils will not affect these messages you all see.

Alot of us have seen those messages before.

Though 'Silver LS' I am not sure why your system's lights are draining your car battery... this seems like a larger problem to me. Anyways -

I suggest to you this:

Take off each wheel and remove the wheel speed sensor, clean it and inside the hole it resides. When you screw it back on, make sure it is water tight and the little rubber seal is not broken down.

Then come back with your results.

I'm sure that can clear up the lights... but why are they staying on when the car is turned off...

Like right now, I'm charging the battery on the LS, the trunk light did shut off. But the light on my console is still lit saying the AdvanceTrac is Off.

Somewhere you have a slow short that's draining your battery.
This car has a lot of switched positive circuits.
A short does wierd things with this car, keeping circuits open that should be off with the key.
When I put in my Kenwood 9140 the positive got pinched but not enough to blow a fuse.
What happened is with the key off the accessory circiut for the wipers stayed on as well as the check advancetrac and check parking brake being on when the car was running.
The battery would drain over 2 days.
Finally the wire chaffed enough to properly short and blew the fuse.
When I fixed the short all my problems went away.
You need to find whats shorting in your car.

+1

I thing it could be a bad or dirty sensor.

For you battery Silver_LS how long did you have it, becaus it could be the time to change it ?

I was abit skeptical and still am on the whole thing. When I asked him about the vin reprogram I did not mention I had an issue with the dccv or the parking brake. He only stated the nature of the problem could be caused by these mini jolts and could also interfere with the parking brake and be due to the dccv or the coils.

I don't see why he would have any reason to lie to me. Maybe he is a mind reader and knew I had these other issues and fabricated the whole thing. Either way I am replacing my dccv and having the ecm reprogrammed and hoping it clears up everything including the parking brake.

Here is broadcast message he sent me from Ford on issues with parking brake:

19732 DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE TIPS FOR 2003-2006 LINCOLN LS ELECTRONIC PARK BRAKE (EPB)
SOME 2003-2006 LINCOLN LS VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT AN INTERMITTENT ILLUMINATED YELLOW ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE(EPB) LAMP WITH "SERVICE PARK BRAKE" MESSAGE AND/OR CUSTOMER-PERCEIVED SELF APPLY OF THE EPB. CHECK FOR NORMAL EPB FUNCTION WITH U CODES PRESENT. IF EPB DOES NOT FUNCTION NORMALLY, FOLLOW STEPS IN WSM SECTION 206-05. IF EPB FUNCTIONS NORMALLY WITH U CODES, THIS CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE (RFI) FROM COIL ON PLUG (COP) OR DUAL COOLANT CONTROL VALVE (DCCV). FOR POSSIBLE COP RFI SEE TSB 05-22-08. FOR POSSIBLE DCCV RFI, CHECK FOR B2798 OR B2799 IN DUAL AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (DATC). IF THE CODE(S) IS PRESENT, UNPLUG DCCV, AND RECHECK EPB. IF SYMPTOMS ARE GONE, REPLACE DCCV. IF REPAIR REQUIRES A NEW EPB MODULE, CLEAR B2477 AFTER PROPERLY CONFIGURING THE MODULE, SEE WSM 418-01.
