I accidentally charged my car for an hour before I realized it was on the 6 volt setting. I switched it over to 12 volts from then on. Will this have damaged my battery?

Probably not. I'm sure it didn't charge your battery!

The way a charger works is to hold a slightly higher voltage (like 15-16) in order for current to flow into the battery. By having it at 6 volts, if anything, you damaged the charger by letter current flow back into it from the battery.

My guess? You didn't hurt anything.

no harm, no foul, and no charge for the hour at 6 volts.

now, had you been charging a 6 volt battery at 12 volts, different story.

dont worry about it
