I don't know how it would have turned out from a dead stop, but on the freeway @ a 75 MPH roll he couldn't catch me! First we hit it & he had about a 3 car lead, I was closing the gap & then caught him. Next I had about a 3 car lead & we hit it, He couldn't close the gap, & I was slowly pulling away. I'm not sure how fast I was going but it was fast enough to be in some serious trouble if a trooper had seen us. I don't think the mark is all that responsive off the line, but @ freeway speeds it's another story. She pulls pretty hard!:D

Anyone else race a new body Charger R/T with there mark?

Not a race scenario but a comparison. I have driven a charger for a stunt scene on Vivica Foxes show Missing. The scene was to blast up a long under ground ramp get off the pedal for a fraction of a second to go over a steam bar from the fx department and get back on it, to the rug and comlete my turn onto the street. Without sending the wired down bar into the guys window behind me. I turned off traction control and selected first gear. I got some air comming up the ramp at the intersection of the next level ( she blasted the k frame hard when I came down). I was pushing hard, right to the rug. It was perfect,I just hit the edge of red line on the tach when I had to back off to coast over the bar.At the start of the night I was pumped to see what the car would do....well I will say this from a standing start the Hemi had grunt, but on the role when I had to get back into it.......I was disapointed it didn't pull that hard. My gen one had,k&n panel filter, exhaust, straight air tube and punched out cats at the time. Long story short my Mark was stronger on the role than the Charger was. From a dead start...... likely Charger out of the hole depending on the driver of course but on a 20-25 k role both in first driver equal, money is well placed on my Mark

Marks are strong on a roll and real good if you are at just the right speed. droppin the pedal at thr ight speed is key for that power band. On the highway when running low to mid seventies ,the tranny will downshift to second from 4th and just pull hard right on up. In the city mid thirties downshifts to
1st and rocks hard. These numbers are for a 93/94 gen one with stock gears and might be give or take a mile or two since i am half ass converting from kilometers to miles....for km club it is 119 -120 ks for highway and 59 ks for the city run.

Don't mean to jack you thread but you reminded me of a good victory!

Ask the subaru STI I ran about highway rolls and power bandsthat . I can out of a collector lane late one night onto the higway and punched it up to 160 ks throught he long curve. I didn't notice was pacing me out on the highway. I backed off and coasted down to about 130km ish when he roled up and took off. I punched it but due to speed only got to 3rd. on the downshift He jumped about 1/2 a car length on me then creeped to 2/3 and then we paired off. I was not going to back off! I knew that cubes aero dynamics would do it in vs my sleek beast.....You should have seen the passenger looking at me and telling the driver I was still there. It was three am and we had the road to ourselves. ...which was good since I held the pedal till i started to creep. I was like "yes your done come on baby" I cleared his hood and wa spulling away very slowly when I hit the speed limiter. It took me till about 200 kph (converted to mph the 124) to do him but it was too funny when his passenger looked over and saw me creeping past! We were coming up on some cars and had to drive smart we both had to get off it. I backed him down at the end of our slow down behind another car till I got him to 118 km ...just where I wanted him!then we went again it wa even for a sec then I started to creep on him right away....I had good car and a half at 160 km and backed off point well made. I smilled all the way home wondering what was being said in their car. Then I pulled into the station at the corner and gased up ! Long story aye guys. hope it made you smile. Sorry about the "jack" Turbo. I meant to put the story up on the prpoer thread but never do. you inspired me tonight!

Good stories.

My bro in law had a black R/T til his girlfriend went ditch diggin' with it. We only pulled it once. He got me from a rolling stop, never could quite catch him, got to about his rear tire till we hit a short curve. At mid way into the curve I pulled past him to almost a 1/2 car. We ended up slowing down due to more traffic. It was a blast, we still talk about at Christmas.

It jives with what you guys experienced.

There was a Green/Black stripe one at the track last fall when I was there with my LSE. Never got lined up next to him...would have been fun to beat him I ran 14.4s all night. He ran 14.7 all night the 3-4 times he ran, pretty much Gen 1 territory and MarkVIIIs do have good pull at higher speeds so wouldn't surprize me to be close once moving.

The 5.7Hemi is over rated IMO.

I've seen Magnums, 300s and Chargers run...I believe the best I've seen was 14.4 and mostly 14.5s-14.7s...they are suppose to be closer to 14flat.

i was actually going to start a thread about this myself. last night i was in the middle of an r/t and an 08 altima when they were going to race, it was about a 2 1/2 - 3 mile straight away when we started, going from 70, right off the line the altima actually got out the fastest, at about 90-95 i caught up and at about 120 i had 2 cars on the altima and it was the charger and i, either the driver backed off or the mark was faster, because at 133ish i had a car on him as well...my armpits were sweating, heart beating, it was great, we all slowed down after and gave headnods and thumbs up accordingly

yes. pretty strong from a roll.

though i hate it when it drops into first. hello tirespin. hello sideways when 2nd comes.

Hitting the top of 2nd from around 75 is by far the best roll speed for these cars... but if you want to mess with the Hemi cars from a dig, you better have a big stall or some 4.10s.

I've always been kind of wondering how the Mark compares to the Charger. Theres a kid rollin around town that always tries to act all tough, actually he's in the process of making it look like an SRT and will swear that it is, though we all know its an r/t. I'll have to see how he likes my grandpa car :)

It all albout the drivers alot of the time. As medium says push the pedal at 75 mph and downshift to the top of second and the Mark will be ALL there. Charger boy will be suprised to see you beside him. You may have to hold that pedal some to pull him though. Are you dead stock? The Gen one stock will run him stronger. If in the city.... I used to manually select first from lights and pull out from behind guys that I knew would be eager to go. I would pop up in the side lane around 25 mph and be all ready to go soon as they bit I would drop it.Many quick cars got pumped that way haha. Late 80's auto stangs took a beating or the guys who had just pulled second and thought a pedal push in second would do it. WRONG.If your rolling and expect the auto to kick down to 1st the race will be over most of the time due to tranny lapse time and the race is already over if it's a quicker car. Until then good Mark drivers. We shall continue pump a lot of weekend yahoos hahahhaha Muscle out!
