Changing the DCCV on a Gen II.

Just changed out the DCCV on my 04 LS, extremely easy repair. After reading here about what a hassle it was and having the Dealer quote me $700 to do the repair I was a little confused/concerned. I had looked at it and I didn't see anything that warranted that kind of book time and I was right. The whole thing took less than 45 minutes and I was taking my time. No more HOT air blowing all the time... . If any gen II owners are going to be doing this any time soon, PM me for a few tips to make it go easy for you.

What are the signs and symptoms of it going bad? I always seem to have warm air when its on vent and the AC seems less than highly effective.

That is a possible symptom, but could also be due to low refrigerant due to a leak or a bad control module. With mine it was simple, one day the 10 amp fuse for the A/C compressor blew and I had HOT air blowing all of the time. The seals on the solenoids leaked and shorted out the DCCV taking the fuse for the A/C with it. Works great now!
