changing out heater control valve

From the top. You have to remove the upper rad. hose. Watch the o rings in the small hoses that come off the dccv unit itself. Also be sure when you refill the antifreeze that you follow the directions from the tech articles so you dont get any air in the system.
 
I thought that some of the hose clamps were easier to get at from beneath, I had to wrap my left arm over/around the oil pan to get at at least one. And I've done this procedure three times. Thats right, once when I got the first new one, again to put the old one back on to ship the new one back. And again to put the second new one on. Only to find out that it was the control unit in the car.

Yes, you will need to bleed the cooling system, follow the instructions in the tech section.
