I'm about to change my driver's side front stabilizer bar link. I haven't found any write-ups on this, but I've heard its pretty straight-forward. So can I just simply unbolt the nuts holding either side of it in place? I understand I'll need to put pressure on the bar? Planning on using the jack for that.

Anyone done this before?

All i can say is they can be a real bitch to get unbolted, I usualy just grap the sawzal and don't even try and unbolt them. Once the old ones are off it's a breeze to put the new ones on.

Is there enough room to use an impact wrench?

Anyone got the torque specs on those nuts? I cant find them anywhere.

I just did mine the other week. They weren't to bad. I used a gun on the upper nuts and they zipped right off. The bottom I used a ratcheting wrench and it came off good too. Don't try at all to knock them out of the holes till have the nuts right off completely or you'll have fun with the joint free spinning! You can thread the nut back on again a few threads and hit them to free 'em then or use a joint seperator...
Torque new bolts to 53-72 N-m or 39-53 lt-ft...

mine were a pain in the @$$, had to beat them out. i replace them with Bill's Super Coupe parts, I had to use a pliers to hold the threaded end in place.

Just get both front wheels off the ground and on jack stands, that way you are not loading the bar which can make for a miserable job.

I cant punch out the bottom of the link. Its in there real tight, the top came out ok with a couple hits of a hammer, but theres very little room to work around at the bottom. We came up with some pretty creative ways of delivering force to the bolt, but it still wont come out. I think it may be rusted in. I gave it some more PB blaster and am going to try again tomorrow.

Did you try the 'tuning fork' style ball joint splitter on the bottom one? Thats what worked for me.

I tried a ball joint splitter bar but even that didnt work. So I took a torch to the bolt and it just came right out, easy as pie.

The clunking is gone now, and the ride is smoother too. It honestly made a bigger difference than I was expecting.
