Cell phone antenna

Anybody have a trail I could follow to find a replacement cell phone antenna for my 97 Mark VIII? Had it for 13 yrs and in uncovering Saturday I broke it and I dont like the little stub mount sitting back there with no antenna even tho I no longer use the phone referring a new traditional Blackberry....Thanks Steven

Since you're going for just the bling of it, just about any radio lean-to (That's Radio Shack if you didn't get it) will have a passive repeater antenna. Remove the old antenna base, install the new base and whip.

Me too, a putty knife will take the mount right off, inside and out. Tuck in the cable under the headliner inside and forget you ever had it.

Hard to forget when you have the call button on the A pillar cover. :lol:

But that's nothing a non phone cover can't fix.

I was thinking of replacing mine with a XM/sirius antenna.

I don't know how well that will work at an angle, IIRC satellite radio antennas have to be on a horizontal plane.

The Mark rear window would probably be flat enough for it to work fine, it's got a decent slope to it. I've seen them installed inside on dashes and back decks etc with good signals as well on a few cars.

But all of the interior installs were most likely horizontal, and that what I'm trying to get at... I don't think satellite radio antennas will work very well if they are not in a horizontal position.

Thats what i used...It looks bigger in the pic then it really is..I bought it at pep boys a couple yrs ago..Package came w/ 2-3 diff types of mounts. I chose this one cause i didn't like the 8" thin antenna types that extended like the oem ones that always break.
And it covered the inside glass antenna portion perfectly. And the antenna's are made from metal so there plenty sturdy.

hmm, true Frogman, I see what you mean. Perhaps it could be temp mounted to the window to see how the signal is affected? I don't think it will be much though still...
