I was drivin arround last night and the CEL comes on, i turned off my heater to see if i could hear anything, and as soon as i did, about a second later, it went away. Thinking it was mabey not a coincidence, i turned it back on about 30 seconds later, and it came on again, so i turned it off again, and the light went off again. I let it sit off for about 5 min while i was still crusin along, and then i turned it back on, and no more problems for the rest of the about half hour->hour drive.

any ideas?

since you started punishing your car so much in a short period of time you probly busted out a muffler bearing sensor, easy fix, approx 67$ each.

Part # FLA17954-1146

Tech article

1. Raise the back of car up, place jack stands under the car
2. drop both mufflers, two 15mm bolts on both sides
3. unplug the connector going into the top of the muffler
4. then pop out each sensor, use some pb blaster
5. now put in the new ones and put the mufflers back on

note, when they go bad you lose about 20hp from your car running alittle out of tune and your are probly getting crappy gas mileage
hope this helps

Nice writeup. Would make a good tech article. I'll see if Joey wants to put that in the tech section. He has been looking for articles like that. Any pictures to go along with the write-up?

its a simple fix, stradogs went out before the meet at downers grove, I helped him. I got some pics, let me upload them, its a 20min job

o2 sensor
I thought it might be them, but i just replaced them at 55k and im only at 67k now, so i dont think they would go bad in 12k. Though i do remember the problem coming on before, and then i changed the o2's and it went away.

i dont know, its not that im "pushing" the car more now than i have before, its just driving better, and is more fun to push. I usuially always drive like that. But ur right, im getting god awefull mileage (compaired to previous) and just yesterday(before the cel came on) it was progressivly feeling a little less powerful. I changed the plugs/wires, and it felt real good for like 2 hours, then it decided to go back to how it was ( - the misfire) Ill have to check that out.

Sounds like the culprit to me!

i've just never heard of it and have no idea what possible function it could have on the car - other than to pull someone's leg....
