As many of us read in the chat, my Check Engine Light is on. Eric1 put the reader on it and gave us the "Left Bank Lean" error... General Consensus says "Bad Cats or MAF"

Today I noticed on my trip home that my car does NOT accelerate over 3500 RPMS, in any gear, if I gun it and shift down at 55, she'll run to 3500 rpm and then it's like hitting a brick wall ... does this change anyone's opinion? I'm furious at this point... I can't afford these repairs, my list is neverending... :(

:Bang :feedback :Bang

From what I gathered in the chat Eric did some pretty comprhensive troubleshooting and it's probably the cats. I know thats not what you want to hear but like I said, as long as you are sure the fuel delivery system is clean and giving full pressure Eric is most likely correct.

after hearing about your "3500 rpm wall"
it really sounds like a plugged cat..

My Dad went on a rant about Fuel Delivery with me tonight.... consensus is still Cats huh? Shouldnt I smell rotten eggs?

Well, like I said, you should really check the fuel pressure, however, I gathered that Eric already did all that stuff.

You can have any competant exhaust shop run a back pressure test and see if your cat is plugged. You can also look under the car after you have driven it for a bit, if its clogged it can actually glow red from the extra back pressure.( I have seen one even spit out a sparking fireball)

If it is the cat your best bet is to disconnect the exhaust after the cats and bang the cat material out of the cat.

What I do is use a very ong pry bar or a long piece of pipe and I bang the crap out of it untill I get it all out.The driver side you have to do on the car so its a little tougher but its not too bad.

Your other choice is to buy an extremely overpriced factory replacement.

Let me know if you need any more help I can walk you through it a little more thoroughly.

While your at it I would suggest installing new O2s, thats probably what caused your cats to go bad is a faulty O2 caused a rich condition the excess fuel is burned IN the cat and causes it to clog up.And when it happens like that you dont usually smell rotten egg.Thats when a cat goes bad on its own.

Check my other posts for a hook up on CHEAP O2s.

LOL And in NY I think they take away the sticker I already have ;)

Eric replaced the MAF Sensor today and the 3500 RPM Wall is gone...

:wrench

The WALL is back now around 5500 Rpms... (picture the severe passing lane scenarios) so as this is EXTREMELY better and the car is reacting EXTREMELY better, it soudns like Cats might still be an issue.

I stood at Erics two LSC's and felt the pressure from his exhaust ... putt putt putt putt putt
Stood behind My MARK8 and felt the pressure from my own exhaust. nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. :p I have like 0 pressure there. His exhaust in the 30 degree temps looked like and old man blowing smoke rings.. my exhaust in the 30 degree temps looked like a cigarette just sitting in an ashtray burning away.

Best analogy I can give at this time
