So is there any good way to test your cats or o2 sensors with actually removing the cats and just driving around?

OBD II does a good job of monitoring the O2's and cats. Short of an engine dyno, I'm not sure of any good way to test them.

If you are wondering about a CLOGGED cat you can just remove the O2 sensor to let engine breathe. This will let you know if car picks up power with it pulled then cat is clogged. As for testing O2 sensors just get a OBD11 reader where you can see live data and watch o2 readings. I always bring mine to xmas family gathering and run everyones codes. Ran 3 cars on xmas eve lol.

mine does not do live data or at least I am not sure that it does. I would have to look at the manual to see if it does and how to do it. Also which o2 sensor should i remove the pre cat or in cat or all sensors.

Thanks for the help guys

ok, jw. I ran seafoam through the intake system & let it sit to break up the carbon like i've done on my other cars. had a bunch of crap come out the pipes, car has ran smooth since. I am looking into getting an exhaust for this thing

Was told by the parts counter at the dealer that there are two o2 sensors; the one's that are pre-cat. The one's after/in your cat are what monitors your cats, was told technically not o2 sensors. I assume that when one of these go bad/throw a code, your cat is bad??????

As mentioned the cats are designed to outlast the car, but that's with everything running right. I believe I may have a problem with mine. Keep getting o2 sensor codes and I'm getting a very nice 22mpg highway when I got 27ish when I first got the car.

You would want to remove the #1 O2 or one near engine. If you had a clogged cat car would be down on power. (like a banana in your tail pipe LOL)

yeah I can barley get over 35 mph but I'm sure its not the tranny. When its running fine I have no slip or hard shifts and never have. And I can hear the engine doing its thing, surging and dying and what not.

I have a couple missfires a while ago That I did not know where missfires (other codes showed up) and I drove to Pittsburgh. probably dumped plenty of gas.

I found a back pressure tester, is there a standardish back pressure for the cats.

I want to test it in the pre cat o2 bungs and I if the back pressure is ridiculously high I am sure there is a clogged cat issue. If its low and I don't know what about standard is I would have no comparison.

I don't know how accurate of a test this is for clogged or close to clogged cats this is. but I figure it may give me some insight into what issues I may or may not have going on.

Thanks G-Rell, that had a lot of good info in it. I sure hope that the cats aren't the issue but it would make me much happier if it is them and not something really serious.

Ah so I pulled the two pre-cat o2 sensors and the car ran so much better like it was almost new so I would like to say I have figured out my cats are plugged up pretty good and I am going to look for those ones fastls has

post site and part #s when u do.... Glad / Hoped you figured it out!!!!!!!!
