i am trying to get some tunes for the xcal 2 and i need a catch code or so he says.. anyone know where i might be able to retreat this? he is trying to tune it to my car i just dont know where to get it. i hope this makes sense

Also, the tuners most all of us use (either Torrie or Rob) only need the strategy code, not the catch code.

he' right
the tuning software is based on a catch code
catch code references a strategy

plug your X2 into your car, scroll down to "vehicle info" press "select"
scroll down to "read strategy" then press select.

copy carefully the displayed numbers

that is the strategy
cross reference the strategy to find the catch code
if he cant do that, RUN.!

Beat me to it. I was just going to say that the tuner's program should be able to determine the catch code from the strategy.

I can't find a way for me to pull the catch code myself though.

its very confusing, and the software doesnt have a list of strategies.
you're on your own in that dept....lol

and the x2 only pulls strategies, not catchcodes

double fudge brownie, so to speak

Yeah, there's really no reason why I personally need the catch code anyways. I was talking to someone who had the tuning software, and he asked for the catch code, which started my search for it. I gave him the strategy code, but that apparently wasn't what he needed. That's the only reason it had ever become a concern for me.

I just need to man up and buy the software, and get onto an sct forum to start learning the sh*t myself. Of course, you recommended that a while back to me.

.

true, but the sct forums info is sparse when it comes to actual tuning.
they offer traning at sct though.

the forums primarily deal with device and software glitches
there are a few people over there that try to help with tuning issues, some dealers as well (god love em) but there "AINT alot of spoonfeeding going on".
