Catalytics. Help !

Now, I will not make the case for or against the hp/torque argument. That's why I phrased it the way I did. But the way I've understood it is thus: torque is the thing that is measured on the dyno. The torque is then plugged into a formula to determine hp. The dyno does not measure HP. and the dyno measures more than just how quickly you get off the line. Torque I believe is rotational force.

I know as little as the next guy, so I'll jump in.

HP = torque x RPM x scale factor.

I think that what the comment about the exhaust was getting at is that while the HP may remain the same or even increase some, the torque at the low end would go down. You can look at it as having less HP at low revs, but that's not how things are usually rated.
Normally, the max torque figure given for an engine happens somewhere in the low RPM range, and normally, the max HP happens somewhere in the higher RPM range.

Torque gets you moving quickly, and HP makes you go fast.
Clear as mud, right?

I'm no physics guy, but I once drove two cars rated 240hp back to back:

Honda S2000 (forget the year).
1999 BMW M3

Even considering the lighterweight of the s2000 the M3 felt MUCH more powerful off the line/pulled MUCH stronger 0-60 or so. The M3 had about 250 lb ft of torque I think, and the S2000 had under 200 lb ft I believe. (yes, Im too lazy to google the exact numbers). But at that point..I realized how valuable the torque rating was to me.

Use clamps?

Wont it need a flex thing? Just the clamps tied up? Idk on the V8 but for me to use pipes I need to bend them dont know exaclty whats the angle tho.

About the perfomance change, as Ive spoke with some other 5spd riders, all of them have a different power curve than mine. My car would push pretty hard from 3k rpms up to 5.6k-5.8k rpms, beyond that revs go up but the pushing power is pretty much the same as my old izusu amigo!! while all others push all the way to the rev limiter (with my car didnt came with) So I want my car to push at those high rpms as well. My cats r full of crap ! I was gonna empty them but Im going for straight pipes instead.
Does any1 know what sensor simulator I can use to keep the engine light off?

Are you 100% sure you wont lose some torque (which to me, is even more important than HP) by reducing the backpressure when you remove the cats? (nevermind the environmental impact)

Well I drive like granny on my daily, shift between 1.8-2.3k rpms. So Id rather see gains at higher rpms where my engine goes only when running. Plus stick shift.

LS6, I hate to say it but your best bet is to weld it. But, if I were to try not to weld I'd use a band clamp to connect whatever straight piping you put in place of the cats. If you don't don't what an exhaust band clamp is then use google images.

Seems like either weld or clamps. Doesnt that section of the exhaust need the ability to flex?

No.. On the v8, there is no flex pipe in there.. For lack of better words, it just takes the whole exhaust with it. When the engine flexes, the whole exhaust does..

Enough said.

Next step.. Finding the right one, help welcomed !!

yea but i dunno about you guys, but around here there are always shops that will pass emission inspections with a little extra on the side, problem is, unless you personally know someone that works at the shop or has some pull, they wont do it for you for fear that you are undercover and will shut them down cuz they fine up the ass for passing emission especially with cars that have the cat delete.

hey dj, is it possible you could PM some of these places,
