Cat going out??

So yesterday morning I started up my car and it sounded a little louder than normal but didn't think anything of it. As I am merging onto the interstate I give it some gas and I hear what I can describe as sounding like nails knocking around in the exhaust pipe. My check engine light never came on. Is it possible that part of my cat broke off and is now in my exhaust pipe?? Has this happened to anyone before?

yup, I hear that damn sound every time I step on the gas. wound up replacing my entire exhaust because one side wasn't blowing any exhaust out of the rear, I assume it was from all the unspent fuel from the bad coils getting in there?

looks like I need to replace the cats now too, which are pricey.

does ford honor any warranty on cat converters? my ls only has 60k miles

Yeah, Its 7 yrs or 80K miles.
