Is there a safety switch on the Mark8 that must be reset following a collision?

yes but it will not stop your car from turning over, just from firing up.

What he said, inertial safety cut-off fuel switchy thingy. Located in the trunk on the left side, red button. If you get no crank its a battery connection to starter, starter solenoid or starter itself or maybe the ignition circuit.
